Description: "A hydrologically conditioned Digital elevation Model has been developed for the Greater Toronto Area of
southern Ontario and for Lake Ontario. The model has been developed from 1:50 000 NTDB data onshore and
Canadian Hydrographic Service bathymetric point data for Lake Ontario. Terrain specific interpolation and
drainage enforcement techniques within the ARC/INFO TOPOGRID software module were used to interpolate
the data to a gred cell of 30m. Verification of the model demonstrates that elevations are correct to plus or
minus 3m. This digital elevation model is suitable for the automatic delineation of watersheds. This report
documents the development of the model included on this compact disc.
The model was developed as part of the Geological Survey of Canada Oak Ridges Moraine National Mapping
and Hydrogeology programs in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian
Hydrographic Service. ";

Description: Accurate hydrologic data (over-lake precipitation, runoff, lake evaporation, net basin supplies, connecting channel flows, diversion flows, beginning-of-month lake levels, and changes in storage) are required for simulation, forecasting, and water resource studies on the Laurentian Great Lakes and their basins. These data are derived from meteorological and hydrological data. The 1993 reference is an update of the earlier report describing Great Lakes monthly hydrologic data. It was expanded and revised to include all available data through 1990 and to reflect improved computational techniques. The raw data utilized were collected from several sources, so the periods of record for each lake vary.

Description: Each year, Environment Canada produces a National HYDAT CD-ROM which provides rapid access to a stand alone version of the National Water Data Archive. This large database contains daily, monthly, and/or instantaneous information for streamflow, water level, suspended sediment concentration, sediment particle size, and sediment load data for over 2900 active stations and some 5100 discontinued sites across Canada.
Please click here to view the Reference Index which lists all of the water stations and their operating program.
Using a new Windows based software interface developed by Environment Canada, users have the power and flexibility to retrieve, view, subset, download, and print selected data from the CD-ROM.
Please visit our HYDAT software page. It contains links to download the most recent version of the HYDAT software, tips for users, and answers to frequently asked questions.
We also have a copy of the most recent HYDAT CD-ROM User's Manual online. Click here to download (2.1 MB).
Please note that amendments to the User's Manual are documented in the HYDAT MANUAL AMENDMENTS.
The current version of HYDAT (version 2000-2.01) is available from Environment Canada's Water Survey of Canada offices (click here for a list of contacts). The HYDAT CD contains hydrometric data updated to the end of 2000 for most locations; however, data for all stations processed through the Province of Quebec is only current to the end of 1997.
To view samples of HYDAT, choose one of the following:
* daily streamflow data
* sample discharge hydrograph produced from HYDAT daily flow data
* mean monthly water level data
* sediment summary data
For those with a high speed Internet connection a CD-ROM image (380MB ISO) of the HYDAT CD is available for download.

Description: This product is a globally seamless adaptation of the U.S. Government's Digital Chart of the World (Vector Smart Map Level 0 [VMap0], Edition 5) produced by Global Mapping International in ESRI shapefile format, with added country polygons and updated first-level subdivisions of countries. The underlying Digital Chart of the World was developed by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (now the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency)of the U.S. government. GMI has merged the DCW into seamless, global shapefile layers (the original consists of four separate libraries, each divided into dozens of tiles).
GMI has also provided sample map project and layer files applying appropriate cartographic symbology to the complex classification system of VMap0). The VMap0 data was compiled from the Operational Navigational Chart (ONC) series of air navigation maps with a scale of 1:1,000,000.
Full information about VMAP Level 0, edition 5 is contained in MIL-PRF-89039 "PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION - VECTOR SMART MAP (VMap) Level 0" as amended (VMAP0_spec.pdf)
GMI has also provided sample map project and layer files applying appropriate cartographic symbology to the complex classification system of VMap 0 when using the shapefiles in ArcGIS version 8.3 and above.
